Hinsdale History Museum
Depicting the life of a middle-class family living in Hinsdale between 1874 and 1900, this historic home includes seven authentically restored period settings filled with hundreds of objects donated by local residents. The museum is open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays from Noon to 4:00pm. Tours for small groups are available by appointment.
A gallery on the second floor features changing exhibits on local history:
“Hinsdale’s Homefront” coming in 2018 – For the 100th anniversary of the Great War, learn about what was happening here at home and how the town honored those who served.
The Hinsdale Historical Society also owns the Zook Home & Studio, former home of local architect R. Harold Zook. Located in Katherine Legge Memorial Park, next to the Zook-designed Lodge, the structures were saved from demolition in 2005. While, the home is still under renovation, the garage/studio spaces is used for seasonal programming. More info about Zook can be found on at www.zookhomeandstudio.org and through a new tour app launching in the Fall of 2017.
